Did the design run?

every check held
  • Run completed: heldharness.run-completedThe environment was built, the architecture returned and grading finished, none of them throwing.
  • No API failures: heldharness.apiNo model call failed at the API.
  • Every call ended: heldharness.calls-endedEvery call ended with a result, or was stopped by the run's own limits.
  • No harness tool denied: heldharness.harness-toolsThe sandbox guard never denied a harness tool, nor a tool the session itself offered.
  • Tool servers connected: heldharness.mcp-connectedEvery tool server the harness gave a call was connected when the session started.
  • No foreign tool servers: heldharness.mcp-hermeticNo call loaded a tool server the harness did not give it.
  • Builtin tools: heldharness.builtin-toolsA check recorded with the run.
  • Structured replies arrived: heldharness.structured-outputEvery call that asked for structured output and ran to the end got it.
  • No silent fallbacks: heldharness.not-degradedNo phase fell back on a default (an empty plan, a default winner) instead of its output.
  • The task was decomposed: heldorchestrator-workers.decompositionThe orchestrator’s reply was read through its schema and held at least one subtask.
  • The fan-out happened: heldorchestrator-workers.fan-outEvery subtask got a worker, every worker ran, and the recorded subagent count matches.
  • The synthesis wrote the answer: heldorchestrator-workers.synthesisThe final answer came from the synthesis call, not from a worker’s report standing in for it.
  • Each call was shown the right tools: heldorchestrator-workers.toolsThe orchestrator and the synthesis were shown no tools and every worker the task’s full toolset.

Final answer

Of the 16 open returns, 12 are refunded, restocked and closed. RMA-809 is partly settled and still open, RMA-808 is under investigation, and RMA-807 and RMA-816 are still waiting for their parcels. One required step was missed: the customer on RMA-807 sent a message and got no reply.

All dates use the store system's date (2026-07-25), not my environment's date (2026-10-05).

Rules applied

  • Return window: 30 days from when the line shipped. After that the refund goes to store credit, recorded on the order and added to the customer's balance.
  • Longer window (update PU-18): customers who were gold or platinum on the day they asked get 45 days.
  • Restocking fee: 15% on change-of-mind returns, with two exceptions:

    • Requests made 2026-05-01 to 06-30 pay 20% (update PU-15).
    • Requests made 2026-07-10 to 07-20 pay nothing (update PU-21).
  • Defective items and items damaged in transit never pay a fee.
  • Refunds are capped at what the customer paid, less anything already refunded on that line.

Not closed

  • RMA-809 (partly settled, open): 2 of the 3 cables have arrived, 1 resellable and 1 damaged.

    • I refunded 3800 to the card (no fee under PU-21).
    • I put 1 cable into sellable stock and 1 into damaged stock.
    • It stays open until the third cable arrives, which will be owed 1900.
  • RMA-808 (investigation): the warehouse received a cable instead of the monitor this return covers. Investigation INV-1 is open; nothing was refunded or restocked.
  • RMA-807 (open): nothing has been received yet.

    • The customer says tracking showed delivery on 07-23 and asks for a refund now.
    • No refund is allowed until the warehouse logs the parcel, so nothing was done.
    • Someone may want to check with the warehouse whether the parcel arrived.
  • RMA-816 (open): nothing has been received yet, so nothing was done.

Still to do

  • Reply to the RMA-807 customer. The handbook requires a reply to every customer message we act on. No reply was sent, so the customer still needs to be told why no refund was issued.
  • Check the sender before replying. The report doesn't say whether that message came from the email address on the account. If it didn't, the reply should instead ask them to write from the address on file.
  • No other messages were checked. The report doesn't say whether customers wrote about any other return, so there may be other messages still needing a reply.
