Did the design run?

every check held
  • Run completed: heldharness.run-completedThe environment was built, the architecture returned and grading finished, none of them throwing.
  • No API failures: heldharness.apiNo model call failed at the API.
  • Every call ended: heldharness.calls-endedEvery call ended with a result, or was stopped by the run's own limits.
  • No harness tool denied: heldharness.harness-toolsThe sandbox guard never denied a harness tool, nor a tool the session itself offered.
  • Tool servers connected: heldharness.mcp-connectedEvery tool server the harness gave a call was connected when the session started.
  • No foreign tool servers: heldharness.mcp-hermeticNo call loaded a tool server the harness did not give it.
  • Builtin tools: heldharness.builtin-toolsA check recorded with the run.
  • Structured replies arrived: heldharness.structured-outputEvery call that asked for structured output and ran to the end got it.
  • No silent fallbacks: heldharness.not-degradedNo phase fell back on a default (an empty plan, a default winner) instead of its output.
  • The task was decomposed: heldorchestrator-workers.decompositionThe orchestrator’s reply was read through its schema and held at least one subtask.
  • The fan-out happened: heldorchestrator-workers.fan-outEvery subtask got a worker, every worker ran, and the recorded subagent count matches.
  • The synthesis wrote the answer: heldorchestrator-workers.synthesisThe final answer came from the synthesis call, not from a worker’s report standing in for it.
  • Each call was shown the right tools: heldorchestrator-workers.toolsThe orchestrator and the synthesis were shown no tools and every worker the task’s full toolset.

The call-by-call replay is not published for this run. Traces are large, so the repository keeps 9 of this run set’s 900 and leaves the rest out; the score, phases and final answer on this page come from the committed run record.

NIST SP 800-63B-4: password requirements for verifiers and CSPs

The current revision is SP 800-63B-4, dated 26 Aug 2025. The superseded Rev. 3 page says: "This revision of NIST SP 800-63 has been superseded by NIST SP 800-63-4 as of August 1, 2025." (https://pages.nist.gov/800-63-3/sp800-63b.html). The Rev. 4 page states: "This publication supersedes NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-63B." (https://pages.nist.gov/800-63-4/sp800-63b.html). All quotes below come from the password sections (3.1.1.1–3.1.1.2) of https://pages.nist.gov/800-63-4/sp800-63b.html.

Notes on specific rules:

  • Maximum length: 64 is a minimum for the maximum length that verifiers allow. It is not a cap on password length.
  • Shorter passwords in multi-factor use: Passwords used only as part of multi-factor authentication may be shorter, but not below 8 characters.
  • Forced changes: Even though periodic changes are forbidden, verifiers SHALL force a change when there is evidence of compromise.
  • Paste: Allowing "paste" is only a SHOULD. Allowing password managers and autofill is a SHALL.
  • Hashing: Salting and hashing with "a suitable password hashing scheme" is a SHALL. Using an approved scheme from SP 800-132 specifically is only a SHOULD.

What wasn't checked:

  • No drafts of Rev. 4 were examined.
  • I'm not making any claim about how Rev. 3 worded these rules. One worker's recollection of the Rev. 3 wording came from memory, not from a page it opened.
  • No worker found any sources that disagreed with each other.
